Hi, I'm Yoon Kyung Shon

I am a 3rd year CS Ph.D. student at the Embodied Dynamics Lab, University of Maryland, advised by Professor Jun Nishida and Pablo Paredes. My research interests lie in the fields of Human-Computer Interaction (HCI) and Affective Computing. Currently, I am focusing on exploring how wearable haptics can be effectively utilized to cope with people's negative behaviors.

Prior to my Ph.D., I worked as a research engineer at LG Electronics in South Korea. Leaving school and gaining various experiences in life, I have developed a strong desire to engage in cutting-edge research that can make a positive impact on people. Fortunately, I am now enjoying the opportunity to pursue my studies and research!ย

One unique thing about my life is that I spent my 9th grade in Australia, away from my family. I encountered racial discrimination, loneliness, and cultural differences, but I appreciate this past experience in that it has strengthened me and instilled in me the resilience to overcome any difficulties and hardships.

I love traveling and have visited a total of 17 countries so far, but the most wonderful place was Switzerland. Someday, I want to take my parents and enjoy the beautiful scenery with a morning coffee. In addition to travel, I enjoy playing League of Legends. I used to be in a Diamond tier as a Zyra support, but now I just casually play as a hobby.

I appreciate my family for always supporting me. ๐Ÿ‘จโ€๐Ÿ‘ฉโ€๐Ÿ‘งโ€๐Ÿ‘งโค๏ธ
